in the drilling space take a look at PDS-n…pays over 6% divvy…large land driller up here…I think it is a take out candidate myself.
DDV.to (duvernay)was just taken out by shell…at a 42% premium…HPX.to has simialr potential to get taken out..whereas DDV was gobbled up because of the Montany gas fields…Highpine has the pembina nisku play that is attractive…
Makes sense for oil companies to buy drilling companies. Shortage of rigs at these prices for oil.
Depending on the area, there could be a 6 - 9 month backlog before you can get a rig to drill a prospect. At least that’s what I’m hearing from the field.
Gillette WY is a booming oilfield town in the P.R.B. Much activity. I’ve seem these booms before. They typically last for a couple of years…..until oil prices go down.
you see the volume in the SPY so far…the gap down open and first thirty minute flush out got the VIX to spike pushed the SPX to 1200 and brought in the value players.
now it is paramount that the pattern of up days followed by down days of greater magnitude ends here…if the rally has any chance of getting traction.
that’s a nice setup…63 is the stop …I am looking at DNA here…. closed my MOS short this am quick trade in and out
ZMH and SYK look interesting in the medical devices space.
July 15th, 2008 at 11:46 amDNA just broke a double top when it hit $80 this morning.
I’ll take a peek at ZMH and SYK. Thanks.
GILD continues to impress. Might be good to add here.

July 15th, 2008 at 2:10 pmWe have gone 37 days without a 2% daily move up in the S&P. We are overdue, no doubt.
July 15th, 2008 at 2:21 pmI love HP.
