Another Reason To Buy DECK

Occasionally, stocks go up and never, ever come down. It is rare, and I can’t predict what will happen to DECK, but like so many Foster’s before it, it just continues to pillage skyward.

Certainly, you and your cretin friends have considered shorting this “overvalued” beast. Personally, I think girls look hot in a short skirt and ugg boots, but what can I say–I love short skirts. I can’t really comment on the company at large, or its prescribed valuation, but I do have some bullish “newz” on them.

A girl friend of mine just returned from visiting her family in Seattle, and she relayed to me how popular a new brand of shoe called ecoSNEAKS was. These shoes are 100% green, all natural, and made solely from expired tires, medical waste, and compressed refuse.

JUST KIDDING. But seriously, they are 100% sustainable. Here is their site, so you can bask in their Chuck Taylorish glow.

I was secretly hoping that this was going to be some penny stock I could quietly buy 1,000 shares of, but no. It turns out ecoSNEAKS is owned by Simple, and Simple is owned by DECK.

So, who cares about shoes? I know Mdawsz is wondering.

Girls with no finance knowledge have 95% stock picking acuracy, bested only by Ducati and his famed 126/126 monthly trading record. In fact, the sexier the girl, the better stocks she picks. They just know the consumer end of things. It’s fascinating, and this girl is no Alba, but she’s pretty hot, so I think we’ve got something. She said they were quite popular, and there was much buzz, you could say.

Then, the integral fact that I’ve never heard of the product AT ALL, and you got the makings for a surprise earnings beat, a new cult blah blah, who knows, but the important thing is it will be a surprise. As you tools are aware, if something is totally known in the market, you can’t profit on it. It could be a flop, so many things are, but be hesitant on letting your previous sartorial failures and probably bias from classifying these shoes as ugly–I consider that analysis meaningless in the wake of CROX.

Digging further, through their latest 10k I read:

In the third quarter of 2007, the Simple brand launched ecoSNEAKSâ„¢, a sneaker collection made from sustainable materials with mainstream, commercial appeal. However, due to production delays, which have since been resolved, Simple’s wholesale net sales decreased 7.1% for the third quarter of 2007 compared to the same period of 2006. Despite these delays, ecoSNEAKSâ„¢ had a solid debut across mainstream. Based on this growing consumer lifestyle shift in purchasing sustainable products, we expect the Simple brand’s sales growth including consumer direct net sales to be in the low teens year over year for the full year of 2007.

Simple is the only brand they own that isn’t subject to seasonality, so if the ecoSNEAKS are truly popular, they could have a nice impact on earnings, during the seasonally weaker 1st and 2nd quarters. As you can see below, Simple is a small fish, representing under 3% of sales. This is a nice two-way street in that the shoes will have an impact if they are indeed successful, but carry minimal detriment if they are not.

Net Sales by Line for latest quarter:

Simple: 3,714

Teva: 11,223

UGG: 113,736 129,381

Can you say “easy compares”? Can you say, “no expects anything from this”? So, there you have it. Another reason to buy DECK.

Sounds pretty gay, but I do like the short skirt/ugg boots look.

hey, at least you read my article.

I think it’s a good call, both my article and your concurrence of skirts/boots
