Week of Glorious Fury
I sold MOS at the close (79.75) because I’m thinking it should pullback after 5 straight days of huge gains. If you remember, I purchased it last Friday, and have since enjoyed a robust 4 digit gain in the name, which I booked. I’ll gladly rebuy, as the sector still has strength, but I have a few new targets, namely JEC, CMG (175 forgone conclusion) and maybe VIP on a pullback. I nailed VIP from the low 20’s to 34, as it was my fifth largest position, but, I feel like I missed out completely on the run from 30-38 and that leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.
I had a monster week, thanks to some well executed trades, dip-buying the correction (AAPL, FWLT, DLB, RICK, IVGN), and general market awesomeness viz., my positions.
On Tuesday, I said my YTD was 7.7%––this was an error, because I forgot to account for money I withdrew to spend on things like my car, alcohol and whores, and finally buying thousand-dollar effects programs from ADBE. I keep a very strict partition between my stock money and my “real life” money. If this withdrawn money is to be considered, which I think it should, that puts my real YTD return at 21.7%. After all, it didn’t come out of thin air. Simply taking my balance today and dividing it by my balance as of 1-1-07 gives you a return of 14.5%, after commission, before tax. Of course, the year ain’t over, but it’s pretty close.
Each year I learn more than I ever thought possible and feel more strongly than ever that my next year will be my best one yet. However, it should be noted that this is more proof that “I am [sometimes] a Genius” as well as upper-tier.
Upper Tier?
Yup, DT loses again, as he missed a fucking whole tier, though his tier-myopia is understantable. He misses stuff ok? We all have our foibles.
There is a first tier (fly), there is an upper tier (me), and in the ravages below lie the lesser tiers (DT). I can see why Rage wants out. For extra fun, mouseover, but don’t click the links to DT and Ragin’–then you get a secret message!
Now that I’ve flattered you all, wish me luck on my Accounting final tomorrow. Oh, and Ragin’ is shittin’ on you fools over at the PG. Except Jake, who reminds me of my Grandpa, who in turn reminds me of Patton. I would give up the fight on the avatar Rage–the Woodshed has spoken.

First of all, it’s great you “banked coin” this week. However, realize that no one takes stock picks from unemployed skaters or trailer-park dwellers.
Though it makes all kind of sense that you two are “getting gay” with each other…
BTW, I give you credit for being clever about the mouseover trick.

December 7th, 2007 at 6:00:46 pmAye, mouseover thing is pretty clever.
But why are you dividing with the balance from 1-1-2006? Shouldn’t it be 2007? Or is that a 2-year return (14.5%)? Don’t worry though, I’ll still heed your sage advice - a voice of youth amongst these other grumpy old men.
Due to otherwise being involved on the racquetball court, I failed to close some of my positions, to “bank coin”. That now has been delayed until next week.
Also, nice beer picture, although it tastes better out of a bottle or the tap. And it’s still only #2 to this:

I meant 2007. that was a typo, i corrected. I really like PU too (definitely holds a candle), I just like stella a little more.
December 7th, 2007 at 6:34:01 pmDT — I wouldn’t take advice from me either. Tips are for waiters.
However, any kind of rep I can built about “being more right than not, more frequently than not” is good. And plus, I do think i should toot my own horn (gay expression), because some of the stocks I have been long and pounded the table on for a while have really outperformed. I mean AAPL is a no brainer, but I’ve been long for fundamental reasons DLB since 33, RICK at 10, HUM at 55 last year, GME at 27 this march, at my old blog APD since 72, PX at 58, I have been talking about FWLT since it was below 50, and on and on. I may make some silly trades occasionally, but for the most part, I think if someone was stupid enough to follow my calls, at minimum I wouldn’t be doing them a major disservice. And I only call following my ideas stupid because people should do their own DD. but if their own DD proves my thesis right, then I don’t think my ideas are less valid than anyone else’s.
This was the year I finally traded profitably. In years past, it was my long term holds that earned me my year end gains, not my “alpha subtracted” trading. This year, I sharpened my entries and exits and had a profitable year in both the LT and Trading accounts.
So, I’m stoked.
December 7th, 2007 at 6:44:49 pmDamn I hate it when people get all serious.
Of course if you make some great stock trades you should be happy about it. Sure I’m old and grumpy now (if early 30s qualifies as old around here, which I’m sure it does) but I still remember very well how “stoked” I was when I really started making money in the market.
It’s a great feeling. Nothing beats the feeling of independence you get from knowing that you don’t have to worry about a traditional boss and that you aren’t a slave to any system.
So, in short, keep on keeping on. Congrats on your success, even if you’re a degenerate.

December 7th, 2007 at 6:57:46 pmYeah didn’t mean to get all serial there. Thank you, and degenerate perfectly describes the situation.
30 is “getting there,” 40 is “old,” and 47.5 is “plain ole vanilla gay.” So you still got a few more years.

December 7th, 2007 at 11:32:55 pmHi Danny!
I am in San Diego for a “spell”. Staying over on Hotel Circle.
Do you know where I should set up a semi-permanent residence here in San Diego? We (T.G., Jr. and I) do enjoy the beach.
Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated!
December 8th, 2007 at 3:09:26 amWoohoo, thats my hood! hmmm.
Pacific Beach is where I live, there is definitely the beach there.
But it’s cold right now.
Mission Hills, exit taylor street off the 8, then go left up the hill. I would recommend Bronx Pizza on Washington St. and Phils BBQ on sports arena.
As far as where to live, that is tough, but Mission HIlls, La Jolla, Birdrock (some other part of la jolla) are all quite nice. Let me know what you look at!
December 8th, 2007 at 9:16:35 amDanny,
Take pictures.

December 8th, 2007 at 9:30:38 amDanny,
Thanks for your response.
You know… I had thought it would be much warmer down here and am a bit let down. waaaaa!
I will check out those areas that you mentioned. Thanks!
December 8th, 2007 at 11:12:15 amDino,
That is what I adore about you… you are always thinking!
December 8th, 2007 at 11:13:41 amDanny boy — I told you my two year old strapping future defensive lineman to be is “Danny” too, no?
Anyway, just wanted to know that whether you meant it as a compliment or no (I know Fly doesn’t take such things as a compliment), I am flattered by being compared to your Grandpa. I really believe that outside of a few outliers, the company of old fuckers with a lot of stories to tell is vastly preferrrable to guys my age and younger, who haven’t yet had their spit and vinegar mellowed with perspective.
Old people are a precious research. Appreciate them and mine them for interesting factoids. One only has to listen…
Oh, and also btw — I am incredibly jealous of Alpha’s Patton avatar!
December 8th, 2007 at 4:28:56 pmAlso, if that wasn’t a booty call, then I don’t know what.
__________
My little bro lives in Carlsbad, Teeg. He likes.

You should do a separate beer blog or at least post… We could talk all day on it…
I am less a lager/pilsner guy than an ale, specifically IPA or APA guy. I like my hops… Here’s the best beer in the world, not commercially available all around, unfortunately, but if you see it, grab it:
Bluegrass Brewery’s American Pale Ale
Other than that, this is my favorite commercially available pale ale:
Bell’s Two Hearted Ale (IPA).
December 8th, 2007 at 4:39:58 pmBest part of San Diego: Gaslamp District. Hands down. Party every night!!! Some sweet lofts around there, too.
December 8th, 2007 at 6:57:04 pmThanks DPeezy.
