Stocks Going Higher…by Danny on May 13th, 2008 at 3:39:46 am |
All of these stocks were found via a proprietary, Fly-approved screener. Proprietary as in it was developed by me and is not being made available to the public…yet.
Of course, these picks won’t all trade higher–if it were that easy, we’d all be billionaires. For this reason I use stops, which I supplied for you, just don’t forget that they are as of today. When they got up, I put a trailing 20% stop, or just sell on a subsequent pop. You can thank me later when you buy a nice watch or something.
(ANN: 24.29 +1.89%) - Use a stop at $24. I think ANN will retrace up to half the move, so if you were looking to add a retailer, add on a pullback. When a stock like this jumps this much, it isn’t for no reason. It is going higher. Viz. (VLCM: 19.56 -1.51%), (ARO: 34.00 -0.73%) and other retailer scum breaking out–don’t forget most of a stock’s movement is due to the sector. The screener comes in handy, no?
(ARA: 57.73 0.00%) - Stop $79.84. This shit is beautiful. You can buy this stock all the way down to the stop point.
(BEAT: 31.42 +1.22%) - This BEAT stock is a new IPO and it’s still finding its range. You heard it here first. I beat you to it. That was the first beat joke, soon to join the famed annals alongside the now ubiquitous and ducatiesque selling POT jokes. Stop at $23.20.
Some other notables include (BTM: 32.31 +1.29%), (DECK: 115.46 +0.09%), (EJ: 7.94 -5.14%), all of the shipping posse (EXM, DRYS, GNK, etc.)
(ECA: 74.27 +3.80%) Stop at 84. Nattty G, not unlike P. Diddy, can’t stop, and won’t stop. ECA looks extended, but the whole cohort has been so awesome thus far. HP, CHK, CNQ, my god!
(FCFS: 17.63 -2.49%) A nice pawn shop for the nice recession. Stop at $14.82. I like this one’s prospects back to $20.
(OSTK: 18.03 -4.80%) Stop at $18.50. Careful though, Patrick Byrne is nucking futs.
(SDTH: 9.57 -3.92%) - Remember, risk less on these solar burrito deals. Stop at $8.10. SDTH is overbought currently but appears headed for $12.
Watch the refiners here too, (VLO: 34.18 -1.98%) and (TSO: 16.82 -5.56%). But you heard that from Fly.
These are some of the recs generated by the machine for today. I expect them to trade high over the next few weeks, if not days. The exit I use depends on several factors–how extended the stock is, what resistance is, what the group is doing. If it looks like there is nothing impeding the uptrend, I let it ride.
Price action is important. These are breakouts. The very nature of a breakout is that is doesn’t trade much lower than the points prior to the breakout. So that is my logic there. In some cases the stop may be more than 20% away from the current price or close…if that is the case, skip it, or buy it closer to the stop.

Excellent post, beautiful charts, I cannot tell you how much I like this post. Five stars. Were these stocks selected using your proprietary screener?
One day, could you explain to me how to put a chart or other graphic in a PG blog post? The only 3 blog posts I’ve made in my life were made here at iBC and I haven’t figured this out yet. Thanks.
May 13th, 2008 at 6:34:25 amCSIQ just blew out quarterly numbers. With a big short position of 3.5M versus average daily volume of 1.6M, the stock is going way north. Up about 18% this morning. I expect shorts to cover any weakness today and with strong institutional support, this one has a lot of gas in the tank for a nice sustained run, imo.
May 13th, 2008 at 8:11:41 amYou like ANF as a short still? Or are you off all that?
May 13th, 2008 at 8:52:41 amYou gotta love breakouts on huge volume. Those ANN and ECA charts are things of beauty.
It looks like someone is leaning on ANN at $28.50 today.
I put them both on my watchlist and will buy both on pullbacks. Thanks for sharing.
