Dengue Fever

by Danny on July 9th, 2008 at 12:15:09 am

I am sick with Dengue Fever.  It’s pretty shitty, but the beer cools my throat.

Anyway, I’ll make this brief.

I missed most of the market action today, but, as highlighted yesterday, the bounce is upon us.  So that was pretty easy.

Today was a big day for the iBC Machine.  The buying was huge and, well, that’s it.  It’s still bearish, but we have begun the reflex rally.

It seems like Financials are a tired short and if that’s true, then that’s great news for the market.  More likely, we’ll rally some, probably a week longer than anyone expects, then everything will get sold again.  I don’t think all the problems are behind us, though I’m sure they are preparing to say that on TV.

I can’t say how long it will last, but it still makes sense to get long here.

I highlighted DNA as a possible short, and though that stock is still guilty until proven innocent, biotechs, drugs, and health services broke out today.

I would watch that sector carefully.

    Funny how that happens Boone. I mean the biotech move above resistance. It is worth watching. Hope your virus isn’t from one of your street warriors, or whatever you kids are calling the ho’s these days. Hope you feel better.

    Other symptoms include

    * fever;
    * bladder problems;
    * constant headaches;
    * severe dizziness; and,
    * loss of appetite.
    * uncontrollable laughing,
    * extreme constipation

    Uncontrollable laughing?! WTF?

    Danny you must be [chuckle] absolutely [chortle] miserable. Kidding.

    Seriously, get well.

    Hope you feel better soon, Danny.

    Are you serious about it being Dengue Fever? I didn’t know you could get that in San Diego. I hope it’s just a more ordinary virus.

    sorry to hear you’re sick but it is never too late to repent, you had the best chance during Lent. As you know, you must go to Rome and shine the Pope’s red Prada shoes and ask him if you can have a pair of his old ones to wear for 30 days as penance! Dengue fever be gone after that, for sure.

  6. The Fly Says:

    Yeah, I once had malaria in Africa. Luckily some of the locals helped me out with wet towels.

  7. buylo Says:

    and to this very day the locals in Africa call the Fly : “towel-head”.

  8. DPeezy Says:

    At least ‘extreme constipation’ is coupled with ‘loss of appetite’.

    And at least it’s not that other hemorrhagic fever, Marburg/Ebola (just finished reading ‘The Hot Zone’ a few weeks ago)!

    Good luck with the recovery.

  9. Danny Says:

    Thanks for the kind comments all.

    Boca, I just have a regular fever, and not the dengue. It’s worth noting that if I do indeed have the Dengue, I may die, because there’s no way I’m getting medical treatment–that is for sissies.

    So most likely, plain ol’ vanilla fever.

    Still, I am in a state of living death, but I am happy to see my boatload of puts on FMCN below 26 trading higher.

    I hate sleeping all day though and missing everything. Down 200? Weak. I want in on that. Still got WYNN I suppose…

    Shed, that is what we call ‘em.

    I knew a guy who had shingles and was helped by a covering himself in empty snack bags.

    Turns out it was not shingles after all.

    Rather, it was Spicy Pringles. Who knew?

  11. The Fly Says:

    When I was your age I would never get medical treatment. I thought it was for pussies too.

    Whenever I had a fever, I’d sweat that fucker out, then drink a beer.

    Then it dawned on me that I was living like some sort of third world militia man, out of Africa. I started taking antibiotics and lo and behold I felt better.

    Modern medicine is truly modern.

  12. mdawsz Says:

    Just last week I had a mild round of heart burn. I managed to shut it down in short order with some Pepto-Bismol.

  13. DPeezy Says:

    Antibiotics don’t ‘cure’ fevers.
    True story.

  14. Trading Goddess Says:

    Hope you feel better soon!

    Take your vitamins, relax, and remember… the market will always be there when you are well.

    Hugs

    T.G.

  15. Danny Says:

    thanks
