Position Updates: MVIS

by The Fly on April 29th, 2008 at 2:50 pm

My spies who attended the “MVIS does Manhattan” meeting were very impressed with the company’s new product: SHOW.

In addition, they feel the company is well on its way to meet all milestones, including a minor product release in 2008.

Just in case you are wondering, there was no talk of financing at the meeting. However, my people believe the company might raise money, sometime in December of ‘08— hopefully around $5 per share.

Doing some quick numbers, if everything stays on track, (MVIS: 2.34 0.00%) can do $30-40 million in ‘09 and as much as $100 million in 2010.

Last I heard, following the luncheon, the company was meeting with Citigroup.

Personally, I want to wait for a pullback in the stock, prior to adding to my minor position. However, after I get a pullback, I might be an aggressive buyer.

NOTE: God willing, the company will release some partner names, over the next 6 months.

In case anyone was wondering why retail is up across the board, it is because earl is only $116 & possibly headed to merely $100. And since there is a shortage of food to spend money on, it will all go to Ipods, Ugg boots & PVH dress shirts.

    Fly,

What’s the deal with the Microvision Luncheon in NY today? Have you heard anything from your mole? I’ve been searching but I have found nothing showing that there really was a luncheon in NY today. TIA

PS - The Fed will definately drop rates by at least .25% due to the serious meltdown in housing. They have to keep rates low until there’s some sign of home price stabilization. Frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a .50% cut, although that is a real long-shot.

I agree Romanian. Housing is the biggest thing that needs fixing. It’ll be a 25 point cut and we hit s&p 1400 then reverse once everyone and their grandma gets long.

FED fund futures are pricing in rate increases later this year. So the inflation trade (long gold, long oil, long commodities and short the dollar) is being unwound pretty aggressively.

25bps cut and hawkish language is widely expected and the yawner scenario. Stocks want to rally so they’ll probably take them higher on this outcome.

No cut will signal the credit crisis is abating, the FED sees a stronger economy, and the FED is taking inflation serious. Stock rally but gold, oil, and commodities get sold aggressively.

The fireworks scenario for tomorrow is if the FED cuts 50bps or if it cuts 25bps but issues very dovish comments. Everybody who has been shorting commodities this week in anticipation of hawkish actions/comments from the FED will get their balls scorched and rush to cover. Gold, oil and commodities rip, and stocks will get sold.

“Developing”. That’s what the folks at MVIS said months ago (seems like years) with their first early AM press release about a contract with an “unamed” Asian company.

Fly … when you say “MVIS can do $30-40 million in ‘09 and as much as $100 million in 2010.” … are you referring to net earnings or revenue??? I hope your talking about net earnings, b/c those numbers would be quite low for revenue. At $100 “transfer price” which is what has been quoted for MVIS “revenue” that would be 300K units total in 2009 and only 1M in 2010. If I recall correctly, numbers have thrown out by MVIS mgmt either at CCs or from emails from IR of possible 1-2M units just for 2009, and one would assume 2010’s could be quite higher than that.

So basically … do you mind sharing where you are getting those #s? thx.

$100 million in 2010? Wouldn’t that put the projected value of the stock in the $20s come 2010?

    For all you MVIS lovers:

Should this company be able to do 100mill by 2010, the company will have a market cap nearing 1 billion.

STFU and be happy with such modest projections.
