Dr Pepper/Cadbury go their separate waysby yeomps on May 7th, 2008 at 1:39 pm |
Today marks the first day that Dr Pepper Snapple (DPS) is trading on the NYSE after spliting from Cadbury Schweppes. I’m going to be honest, I’m a DP nut. So I was excited to find this out today, however, as of yet I have no idea about valuation but Goldman Sachs initiated coverage of DPS with a “neutral” rating and a $32, 12-month price target. I have also seen the number 2.8 billion in sales floating around for the company… I’ll post more on this when I’ve actually crunched some numbers.
Currently, DPS is trading at $25.

I love the doc. Although i’m trying to phase soft drinks out of my diet.

May 7th, 2008 at 2:44 pmI too enjoy a nice “Diet Dr. Pepper” in the office (I’ve got my little fridge stocked), and I like these new flavors they’re coming out with.
One thing I’ve noticed, however is that they are getting more expensive in the supermarket in comparison to Coke products (I don’t drink shitty Pepsi, so I can’t comment on that stuff). For instance, all the Coke products sell “3 (12-packs) for $11″ and the Dr. Pepper is selling for $4.50, minimum.
Now this may be a testament to their pricing power, I dunno. I know it doesnt stop me from buying, but….
PS– Jones Soda gathers dust on my local shelves.
May 7th, 2008 at 3:16 pmDid you know there is only one Dr. Pepper plant left in the world that makes its beverage with pure cane sugar?
May 7th, 2008 at 3:30 pmHigh Fructose corn syrup will kill you!
Soda is good during recessions.

May 8th, 2008 at 3:58 amThe plant of which you speak is located in Dublin, TX. Dublin also has a DP Party every year (second week of June I think) and the town legally changes its name to Dr. Pepper, TX. I have a speeding ticket to prove it. Even the City Limit signs are changed for the week. I have made a trek to Dublin atleast once a year for the last 4 years to get the good stuff (made with empirial sugarcane sugar) Mmmmmmm…. but I have tried to knock the sweets out of my diet lately.
