My top three picks for next week from the Investor’s Business Daily Top 100 list are:

1)  (ACI: 55.74 +6.43%Arch Coal — 2nd week in my Top 3

2)  (NOV: 76.26 +2.16%) National Oilwell Varco — oil equipment and services

3)  (CEDC: 64.30 -0.31%) Central European Distribution Corp. — liquor importer and distributor.

Please check out the charts on each of the top 3.

To update my other two picks from last week, I am still long (GDI: 45.33 -1.71%) and (GTI: 18.73 +1.41%), with a mental stop, as you never know what kind of screwed up hissy fit the market might have next week.

My favorite stocks for investors with a longer term timeframe are:

(PEP: 68.67 -1.69%) Pepsi was profiled by Alphadawg this weekend, I am long this stock.

(GILD: 53.50 -2.05%) Gilead Sciences.  HIV and AIDS and their complications aren’t going away anytime soon. Currently I don’t own any shares, but I’d like to.  Personally I’d like to see them buy CPHD.

(SLW: 11.93 +4.74%Silver Wheaton, mentioned by Uncle Howard this week, and I added to my existing position.

(NVDA: 13.82 -1.85%) Nvidia Corp.  I stayed long through earnings and was glad I did.

The usual disclaimers apply, just a nerdy housewife, diversify, position size, risk management, blah blah blah. You already know how to trade better than I do.

Boca don’t worry about the 1 star….there is a person that hangs out on this site, I won’t name names that is well known for the standard 1 star.

Good post……. NVDA had a weird week.

Thanks Bill, no problem. It’s all OK.

Maybe people want analysis, not just a quick hit list of picks (which is all I have time for). I’m guessing here. I thought this would be a fun list to update once a week as a regular thing, concentrating on a very specific subset of stocks, the IBD 100. Oh well. Nevermind!

Nice post, Boca. I was beginning to believe that I was the only ibc reader who didn’t daytrade, swingtrade, do straddles/strangles/pairs, options, and/or heavy technical analysis. For my purposes, I like picks/discussion on stocks with significant upside over the next year.

Don’t know who kcb is referring to, but I’ll try to make it up with a fiver.

Hey don’t forget about the IBD 200… more opportunities, greater list of stocks to select from. Many stocks in IBD 100 have already made a significant move.

IBD 200, that’s why I only pick 3 stocks. This is how I pick some of my own trades, and just being on the IBD 100 is not enough for me, even though IBD does a lot of heavy lifting by selecting stocks with high relative strength, increased EPS, money flows indicating institutional buying, etc. I also need to like the chart, the PEG ratio, the industry/sector, the MACD, the price moves in relation to volume, and have to justify the potential for more upside. It takes me a while (a couple hours) to go through the stocks, and I end up with only a few, but each of those have multiple reasons to indicate watching for a good entry for a buy. In some cases I’ve been watching these stocks for quite a long time.

I also have a theory I’m testing regarding the selection and trending relative movement of these stocks. We’ll see if I come up with anything of value.

I suspect some people on this site might use my picks to play Fade The Housewife trade, but I hope my open discussion of it, and mentioning how I selected the stocks, hasn’t put a pin in anyone’s balloon. OK outta here for now…

GILD has been a great stock for me. Hope it has treated you well.

There are some stocks you’ve got to hold for a longer time frame. GILD is one on my list.

It’s just “Crickets,” he’s pissy that way.

Crumbling empire, imminent Islamification, severe dental hygiene problems, mad at the world, yada yada yada…. you know the type.

If boca wins the PG this month, the Fly will have to set up a “Queen of the PG” designation.

IBC is potentially developing into a “liberated” man’s blog. Odd, no?

    5*

I like [[NOV]] for the “supply chain” oil play. I don’t have any money in it but, I’ll keep it on my radar.

  15. boca Says:

hahaha Danny you made me laugh. I don’t know TG well enough to say either way, TG has always been nice to me though.

Howard has gotten a couple of voice mails from me, so he has heard my voice, I’m definitely female.

I don’t talk a lot about my years of experience in the financial industry or in business, I’m afraid if Fly totals it up I’ll be tossed down the proverbial manhole and ordered off the site for being age 47 1/4 (permanently). So I use the housewife disguise, shhh don’t tell anybody.

I bought some ACI and NOV on the pullback this AM, hope y’all take advantage of it too. Back to work, I’ve been selling a lot of books.
