Some picks from the nestby cuervoslaugh on July 1st, 2008 at 9:01 pm |
Wow - it’s a holiday here and it looks like some folks were getting their 401ks shredded today.
I decided to spend the last few days reflecting on the last month and coming in last finally seemed something agreeable to me. I’m not much of a ‘winner’ so I thought I would pass on some picks that went off on my screener.
A word of warning: I don’t have shares at the moment in any of these stocks. I’m presenting this for informational purposes only. In fact some of these equities and their prices some might wonder if are picks at all but, in the spirit of buying low when there is blood in the street & giving my general suggestion which is to preserve as much cash as one can - I’ll present today’s bright shiny things that caught my eye:
[[MAIL]] looks like they might be getting their act together and would look good to me about $2.90 as a long.
[[GLRP]] looks good as an afterthought oil buy @ around $1.60-1.70 to go long.
[[NGSX]] has promise for anyone interested in the biotech field as they just had some successful trials for their anti-pain treatmen and I would say the $2.50-2.6 area is a good place to go long.
Another biotech stock is [[NEXM]] which is getting good speculative ratings probably based on it’s anti-fungal product. To me a good long would be about $1.25-1.35.
Why Long Now?
Because when the crowd moves one way I’m going the opposite way. I was born a contrarian and while it’s true there is a great deal of money to be made in the oil/gas area there has to be more options. Besides, when I’m usually happier when it rains, snows, when there is fog anyways.
But these equities are so low !?!
So? It’s not as if I’m talking about equities that would cost a great deal to test a new trading strategy on am I? Also I’m proposing equities that all seem to have a future and while I don’t think on the scale of GW - I definitely don’t feel like suggesting equities that someone would need to mortgage their house to buy. After all - I am still in agreement with Mish’s point of view that the US economy is rapidly heading towards deflation.
Finally
Happy Canada Day! Today’s theme song is in honour of Canada’s 141st birthday.

Actually, it is impossible to be ‘born a contrarian,’ unless you are anti-life and shit.
