Happy Birthday, Fellow Peanuts & Tabbed Overlords!by DPeezy on November 11th, 2008 at 3:30 am |
Yes, indeed. Â It has been exactly 1 year since ‘The Fly’ decided to show the world how to ‘bank coin’. Â
For those who remember, this site opened with much fanfare as ‘The Fly’ left behind his lowly blogspot origins.  Since then, we’ve had parties, celebrations, guns, bitches, hos, and, of course, much name-calling in the direction of the one known as the (gay?) Dinosaur Trader.  We’ve had Championships, voting scandals, permanent & not-so-permanent bannings, and of course elections to replace a dearly departed friend.
Be sure to click through the links to experience some of the greatest (imo) moments of iBC’s first year. Â Keep in mind, the operative word here is ’some’. Â There is absolutely no way I could’ve written an all-encompassing post of the greatness that has come along in the last year. Â Here are a few others that come to mind, in particular order:
- Danny’s videos, especially the Java Monster one. Â Got me a can for tomorrow, obviously.
- The Fly’s ‘technical’ look at MVIS. Â (Sadly, the picture seems to have gone missing…)
- The time when iBC was still orange.
- The iBC dictionary.
- The period of no swearing while the Dow was above 11k.
- Special Appearances by Merlin, the PPT (the mythical entity), and all the Weekly & Yearly Asshats.
- When JakeGint still had 25+ alter-egos commenting regularly. Â Where have you gone, Mr.LIMM?
- And of course all the recent godly developments, such as the PPT (’The Fly’s Brain), the iBC Machine, the Big Bamboo, RC’s Wife, Adam’s Greeks, Gio’s Uke, and ADawgg’s tic-tac-toe charts.

Congratulations to everyone but bring back the good old days with the orange and stop the idiots from posting stupid nonsense noise we are forced to read because it’s there. Simple is always better, so keep it simple - which stocks or etf are going up (top 5-10) and which are going down and entry and exit.
November 11th, 2008 at 7:28 amWell done.
November 11th, 2008 at 11:54 amThe election to replace Gunners as a tabbed blogger was one of the best ibc parties evah, complete with commentary by Dinosaur Trader.
And who can forget our very own weatherman for the Hurricanes of Death, Veritas5? Or Q4’s music selections to chill us out after a “unique” market session?
My favorite time of all was when Fly could not swear until the Dow hit 11K, that was hilarious. Bet we all wish the Dow was back at 11,000 again (except for Devil Dog and T Moe of course, our most bearish bears).
Congratulations to all for a dynamite year by the blog that made me chuckle out loud more than any other.
November 11th, 2008 at 1:38 pmUncle Peezy, tell us another story about the good ole days when America was solvent and iBC first cast its light upon the land…
We newbies appreciate the creation tale and greatest hits archives. Good post.
November 11th, 2008 at 1:51 pmFeliz Cumpleaños from the guy that came in last place in the election to replace Gunner’s blog.
Keep up the good work everyone and Fly - keep writing. You’re truly the closest thing I’ve seen to Hunter S Thompson in the market commentaries.
November 11th, 2008 at 11:21 pmThis post is great, mostly because it links my third-tier blog.
I have a couple of great memories about the PG and about the site in general. First, upon being awarded the first ever “Peanut of the Month,” (narrowly edging out Rajun, whose posts I consistently voted “one star” for) I expected “the Fly” to shower me with money. Instead, he asked me to spend a week writing for the site… FOR FREE. In the absence of pay, I got my revenge by posting very gay music videos, and “tearjerkers” to “ruin” his site.
In turn, I was blessed with the Liberace avatar.
I could go on and on about how my presence here has benefitted “the Fly.” The man truly owes me.
Anyway, I’ve been hanging around his shithole for almost two years now, which is a long time. I think a lot of you like the stock picks, but I keep coming back for the humor, despite the comment section becoming a trash-heap.
The Fly is a comedic genius, like Michael Richards.
