What an egregious fucking weekend in fantasy football!  Not only did I go winless, despite having 4 teams in various leagues, I lost in the most egregious way possible in our very own Dr. ‘Cane in the iBC Football League.

0.06 points!

Yep.  Zero-point-zero-fucking-six points!  Unbelievable.  116.43 to 116.49.  I wouldn’t believe it if I didn’t see it with my own eyes:

Mind you, I had a near 20 point lead heading into MNF.  I should’ve had an insurmountable lead, but I chose to start Hasselbeck & Houshmandzadeh instead of Favre & Breaston (my usual starters).  But I was swayed by the excellent game Hass had the week prior (4 TD’s against Jacksonville, 2 of them to Housh) and the fact that they were playing at home against the WORST PASS DEFENSE in the league in Arizona.  Favre, on the other hand, was facing Baltimore and its significantly better defense.  But, of course, wouldn’t you know it, the Seahawks shit the bed against the Cardinals, while Favre plays superhero once again.  That cost me over 35 points right there.

But anyway, 20 points…still ok, although with Dr. ‘Cane having both Marshall and Royal, the lead was nowhere near safe.  Marshall’s easily capable of putting up 20 points by himself, while Royal gets his usual number of catches (and we play with points-per-reception).

So what makes it beyond frustrating and supremely egregious is that I lose not on Marshall’s usual exploits, but rather on TWO FUCKING RETURN TD’s by Eddie motherfucking Royal!  Are you kidding me?!  Who does that?!  More importantly, what team allows 2 return TD’s against them in the same game?!

San Diego, I hate you.  And that’s an understatement.

Fuckers.

PUT/CALL RATIO UPDATE:

  • Going with the tide this time, rather than against it.  Hopefully with better results:
    • Tonight’s $CPCI reading:  1.74, easily above the upper threshold of 1.53.
  • SPY Nov’09 110. calls on order for tomorrow’s open.
  • The ’system’ is 5-5 in its last 10 trades…just about as good as a coin flip…so not too much confidence – perhaps there’s good reason for all the hedging activity on such a bullish day…

__________

PERSONALLY:
Booked some profit, but the net account value took a hit, thanks in part to laggards like X failing to outweigh unbooked losses in the held puts.  Thankfully out of my huge bearish buy list, only BX puts and FAZ calls got filled.

open-closed

They should provide good insurance for my mostly bullish buy list for tomorrow, which includes a couple of my favorite solar names and a potential flip of TBT (sold today) for TLT:

  • Calls:
    • GET (@ 19.38)
    • PWRD (@ 45.15)
    • SPW (@ 61.)
    • STP (@ 15.25)
    • TLT (@ 96.32)
    • WFR (@ 15.90)
  • Puts:
    • AKAM (@ 21.31)
    • CLF (@ 38.18)

Some of these are not all that liquid (ex.: GET), which just underlies (for better or worse) the importance of placing limit orders…
