At least the two major sports games shed some light on their respective leagues…
- …such as the Phillies have no chance of winning unless they pitch Cliff Lee in every single game. Pray for rain, Philadelphia!
- …and that the Saints are fucking awesome. Surely they’re getting good odds on an undefeated season – they only have 1 tough game left, Week 12 against the Patriots.
…unlike the market, which decided to behave like the sine wave for a day. Yey, math!
Let’s see if there was anything interesting going on…
- Nothing in $CPCI-land:Â the ratio is right near the 6-mo.avg (1.36) & the current trade (SPY Dec’09 104. calls, from this morning) is at breakeven.
- The $VIX, up 50% in a week, took a break today as well, holding just under 30.
- BEBE is set to report on this week – calls going nuts, especially at the Mar’10 10. strike: over 35k traded on open interest of 5k+.
- HGSI popped into the Top5 actives list, on the heels of good news…although action past Jan’10 was limited, so longer term confidence may not as great…
- Strong bullish activity in UUP, with Dec’09 23. calls the most popular. A strong
- Lot of put action in ETFC, with almost 100k traded in Jan’10 1. puts and an overall 8:1 put:call ratio. One would think that refusing TARP money would be a _good_ sign, so it is possible that all these were sold…
Futures are tanking as we speak…
PERSONALLY:
Sideways action is no good for long options as inevitably you end up losing money on both sides. So it’d be nice if we made up our collective minds and picked a direction soon.
In any case, I lost 3 positions to their protective stops today…and then later replaced them with 3 new ones. Nothing too exciting:
Only bullish trades lined up for tomorrow, which will be the case for the majority of trades in the immediate future (as many/most of my stocks have fallen to “oversold” territory):
- AA (@13.05), BEBE (@6.50), BGC (@32.05), FAST (@35.53), GDX (@44.44), NOV (@42.77), PM (@49.53), SBUX (@19.75)

The one star bandit strikes again! Why do so many dysfuctional [sic] people come out when the winners have setbacks? The maggots are crawling all over Fly’s blog. I wish I had some more time to get Yogi’s den going again.
BTW, Stanley buys BDK, Buffett buys BNI, all of it. I wonder who’s next. Oh 5-stars. Yes, Cliff Lee is awesome, but remember the Yankees always win even when they appear to be losing. Oops.
Oh, it’s more than just 1 bandit. It’s a damn army, voting down every post.
Well, except VKing’s…odd, no?
GDX is off the fucking chain today…solar’s working well, too (although my calls are still underwater atm…)
Closing out a win in ONXX (no need to take the after-hours earnings risk).
Keeping everything else, including the new fills from earlier today: BEBE, BGC, FAST, GDX, NOV.
