On Vacation
Due to Fly’s egregious decision to sell me short, I decided I had better update the blog to reflect that I am on vacation. I have internet access through Wednesday, but will be incommunicado Thursday through Sunday morning.
In the strategy account I am long [[QLD]], [[SSO]], [[DDM]].
In my account that has a longer time horizon, I am long [[DXD]], [[QID]], [[RIG]], [[SLB]], [[CRR]], and [[STLD]]. I also have puts on the Qs.
Everything has stops on.
I might have time for another post or two before losing communcations, but if not, good trading to everyone.

enjoy your vacation woodrow

June 24th, 2008 at 2:33 pmHas Wood banked enough coin for Mr. Fly to go on vacation?
June 24th, 2008 at 4:27 pmI’m joining you … not the vacation but the DDM pick ….
Have a good one!
June 24th, 2008 at 5:46 pmWhat? The Rapahannock house doesn’t have internet access??

June 24th, 2008 at 5:48 pmHe must be going camping with the emus … no internet but he’s bringing his hatchet.
June 24th, 2008 at 5:58 pmJake, packing up gear right now to hit some trout streams in Western Virginia (not West Virginia). Internet access unavailable due to the nature of the accomodations (tents).
June 24th, 2008 at 5:58 pmlol @ E8. Good timing my friend!
June 24th, 2008 at 6:00 pmWoody,
June 24th, 2008 at 6:00 pmit’s a fine time for you to be going on vacation. Enjoy the fishing.
There’s some good lookin’ womens up Salem way, as I recall. Tall and athletic. And purty.

June 24th, 2008 at 7:01 pmHave a good time at math camp, Wood.
June 25th, 2008 at 4:16 pmFun movie you should watch tonight to get in the mood for fishing in WESTERN Virginia:
June 25th, 2008 at 4:22 pm“Deliverance.”
That was north Georgia, Anton.
Watched “NCFOM” again last night, to savor the crunchy Coen goodness.
Book was still better, though.

June 25th, 2008 at 5:06 pmOn the topic of pronounciation, I know a cop in a big city, where Bourbon is sold right on the street, that has to say, “PO-lice, open the door”.
If he doesn’t say it that way, the residents in that particular neighborhood think he’s saying, “please, open the door”. Then, 9 times out of 10, he ends up kicking down doors.
June 25th, 2008 at 5:09 pmYou say, “PO-PO,” I say “no-NO.”
I’s a gangsta rappuh.

June 25th, 2008 at 5:22 pmAnton, did a year at Clemson U. That is not far from the Chatooga river, in North Ga, as Jake mentioned, where some of the scenes from Deliverance of river rapids were filmed. Dated a girl named Emily who used to guide rafts on the river, and she’d point out where some of the scenes were shot.
All my double longs closed out today on the Fed spike, and my RIG and SLB got stopped out.
I’m left with an oil play, some diETFs and puts on the Qs. Looks like a good setup considering I have no access to nets or trading, within a few hours.
June 25th, 2008 at 10:58 pmWood,
We’re playing the same tunes, re: oil, diETFs. Still holding RIG, down less than 1%. Mind wondered and I failed to pick up the easy money w/REW yesterday. Didn’t buy back FXP, either. Might as well be fishing.
Enjoy.
June 26th, 2008 at 3:31 pmMind wondered and wandered. Needs to be laundered.

June 26th, 2008 at 7:19 pmJust started reading this blog, just curious why you’d be long the long index ETFs (QLD, SSO, DDM) during a down trending market, and also long QID and DXD?
July 3rd, 2008 at 11:57 amKiddo, during a down trending market, there will still be periods when the market moves up. I trade a strategy that seeks to catch those swings.
As for the QID and DXD, I also want time diversification. Meaning, one strategy is short-term, like 5-10 days. Another strategy is longer-term trend following. Since the markets are in a downtrend, the QID and DXD are longer term plays, to ride with the overall trend.
July 4th, 2008 at 10:17 amHappy July 4th, Woody, glad you’re still visiting us Internet peons.
July 4th, 2008 at 10:34 amBoca, happy 4th to you too! I will still be visiting here, likely 20 times a day, as always. This place has been my home for too long to not check in regularly.
